I’m guessing if I told you the number of times I’m asked if affiliate marketing…
or even making money online is illegal it would really blow your mind.

It’s actually the #1 question most people have when they see what goes on
in this industry.  And with all the recent changes in Google I understand why…

Case in point: My own FAMILY used to ask on a near weekly basis if I was
doing something “sneaky”.

Why?  Because they didn’t understand what all this was… In fact, 99% of the
worlds population has no idea what people like us are doing.  I say “people
like us” because if you’re reading this right now then you’re like me…

You are probably looking for something better.

Perhaps you’re looking for a better way to make a living and you’re probably tired of
the mind numbing cycle of the rat race.  And you’re here because you probably
have a faint twinge of hope in the pit of your stomach.

But maybe the ability to make that kind of money on the internet, working from
home in your pajamas just seems “odd”

After all, most people have been trained to believe in the old concept of “hard work”.
Where the only way a person can get ahead is to work hard and live cheap…

When people do not understand something the natural, human response is fear.

Fear of the unknown and fear of being made to look like an idiot…

But despite those fears I have yet to meet a person, online or off, who was not 100%
interested in living the life of total freedom that comes with this sort of success.

Nobody with any shred of intelligence would reject that.

But because most don’t understand what we do… they reject
the vehicle that will literally drive them to their freedom.

Just a few weeks ago I had the privilege of having lunch with Mike Koenigs
(founder of the uber-famous Traffic Geyser program) and he summed it
up very cleanly:

“What we practice is THE most efficient business model in human history…
If the mainstream would simply try it then EVERYTHING could change.”

He’s 100% right.

That is why we are shopping for castles and hot-rods while the rest of the world
is struggling to make ends meet.  Right now every other industry on the planet is
gasping for breath and hoping they can just make it to the “light at the end of the tunnel”

But that light will never come.  Why?  Because EVERYTHING has changed.

We make money so perfectly we’re able to automate and run a multi-million
dollar empires from cheap laptops almost anywhere in the world.

Making money like this has become so simple that we don’t even need to understand
computers and/or technology!

Hell, your don’t even need to have your own product or website and you can potentially
make more a week than average people make in a month!

So is making money online illegal?

No.  Not if you follow the rules, treat people fairly and be 100% open
and honest about what you’re doing.

Obviously I’m not a lawyer and it’s always a good idea to talk to one before
jumping into a new business…

But the way I look at things is this: Only a few years ago I was homeless and living out of an office.

Then had my Identity stolen and was destroyed financially.

At that moment I had a very serious decision to make. (Much like the one
you need to make now.)

Do I “A” try to get back into the rat race, fight to get a job so I could then fight
to keep it only to make somebody else rich…

Or do I “B”… chose to bring real success into my life?  Do I chose to make the leap of
Faith and apply the secrets so many desperately want but reject out of ignorance and
blind fear…

Hey, I want you to see what I’m telling you here for what it is: This is a wake-up
call.  The world has changed.  Job security no longer exists.  Mega corporations
have shut their doors, fired their employees and there is panic in the streets.

But how can I be certain you and I are on the same page?

Because I remember what it was like to to be where you probably are right now…

Hopeful for a better life.

In fact, deciding to embrace this life of total freedom is the best thing you’ve ever
done… Living this life is allowing you to bring more joy into the lives of others…

And having more fun than ever before…

So what’ll it be?

Do you chose to “A” be like everybody else and struggle for the rest of your life only
to have a 99% chance of dying in poverty and miserable… or…

I wonder how quickly you will discover life changing freedom choosing to live free
having fun and creating more joy than the rest of the stumbling, clueless world
will ever know.

Time to chose.

G’day Jonny

It all makes perfect sense to me yet I am still chained to a desk from 9-5. I am working towards options B but it has been a struggle.

I have joined your fan page on Facebook and will check out the vids.

I also have met Mike Koenigs, well almost. He was a speaker at a seminar I attended a few years ago. I was very impressed with him.

Hopefully on will see you on the other side sooner rather than later.

You’re right dude.

99% of people don’t even know what’s going on with us internet marketers.

To tell you the truth, every day it seems I at least feel sorry for at least 1 person I see going through fastfood drivethroughs, workers at the bowling alley, and basically anyone who doesn’t have their own business. Lately I’ve even been feeling bad for movie stars. Making a film takes up so much of your life. Same thing with rock stars who are always on the road, doctors who work long shifts, and basically anyone who doesn’t have a business that gives you the money, time, and freedom IM does.

I really do know if there’s a better way to make a living.

If you don’t at least give this thing a shot, you’re really missing out.

Jonny is right on point with this. The real key to IM is finding what works for you. I have not had much luck with PPC/CPA which also made me feel uneasy, but have had nothing but rewarding success with SEO/authority sites, so I’m going with what works for me.

I’m living proof of what you say above… for roughly 12 years now I’ve been “living the good life” full time online.

It’s also amazing to me how many people think online marketing is something shady. I run into this a lot in my offline consulting when I teach them how to go online. They often assume Internet marketing means doing something to “cheat te system” somehow.

I too have been watching this transition in business methods. As far as business goes, the leaner the better. I have been studying lean manufacturing for quite some time, and my training has led me to internet sales. I hate to say it, but the paradime business minded person will soon find out the hard way that times have changed FAST! We can change our business almost instantly online, you can’t do that in brick and morter, this gives us 100% control over our quality and content. Plus our products require no wharehousing, they do not require testing for Safety,EPA, or any other profit robbing agency. I have seen the light, and thanks for your insight and direction. Great Artical!

Ted Nelson, author of “Computer Lib”, along with Negroponte, saw this coming decades ago (I know, I roomed with Peter Nelson, Ted’s brother and a computer whiz in his own right)…

ad hoc TEAMS forming ONLINE to do a specific job, get paid for it, dissolve and reform elsewhere, else-while…

So I was somewhat prepared when my multi-decade fallback job (teaching others to speak Korean or English or French) swirled down the drain of “You’re 60, too old!”, pushed by “Worldwide recession, sorry!”

To continue to earn a legal, fulfilling livelihood on my way to The Internet Lifestyle I’m here to say, “Yes! Earning online IS LEGAL and FUN, to boot!”

Hi Jonny,

After buying your Money Siphon program, I made up my mind that internet marketing is what I am going to do. And although I have yet toi make any money I am learning every day. And soon I will be able to put together a complet system so that I can begin to reap the rewards I dessersve.

But no matter how hard it is to get started or how long it takes me to make it, I will be successful in my endeavors.

When we started selling our cow shaped toys a whole new world of opportunities opened up for us and brought us wealth.Then we got scammed by the Nigerian credit card trick. So we got back to day jobs and paid off our debts.But the sparkle of online income never extinguished,and with lessons learned,we’re now rewarded by persistence.So don’t ever dive into an online business blindly,keep your eyes open and always research a new opportunity in detail. Hey Jonny,

I choose to be on the otherside! This is such a great article for people like me who have only been doing this for about a year. Following you and some other IM peeps, I have learned a lot and have actually been seeing money come in. I’m not in the thousands or millions a month yet, but I do see a pin light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully the light will envelope me someday soon!

Dude..awesome post and so, so true. It’s amazing everyday I talk to people and tell them what we do in this industry and they just don’t get it.

Most people have never heard of it, never thought about it or say it just sounds like too much work without a guaranteed paycheck.

Here’s a guarantee… I guarantee I’m going to work harder for myself than anyone else, that I’m going to have more fun doing it and I’m going to reap the results of my hard work, not some CEO or company.

Hey Jonny for me option B is the only option. The Company I’m working for right now filed chapter 11 and well they will close the doors November 06 2009. I have been a student of yours for a bit now. But you closed TGA damn you lol.
I’ve had partial success with it but that’s because of my own procrastination and I know it’s because I “had” job security or so I thought.
Well I decided Screw working for someone else I’m making the big leap and going at it full steam into this. I had a long talk with my wife when we went on vacation for 2 weeks this month and told her I’m not going to look for another meaningless job where my life is determined by someone else. I’m soo sick of the rat race. She agreed I was amazed thought it was gonna be a long figt hehe.

Just so you know what put me over was that video you talked about taking action. I dunno how many times I’ve watched it but it finally stuck.

So to finish this rant As of November 06 2009. I’m working completely for myself and putting my own destiny in my own hands.

You are not alone when people especially those dearest to you ask you to get out and get a job instead of parking your bum and getting it stuck in front of the computer. As always, when one share one’s personal experience, it attract the good, bad and ugly in human kind.

The bright spark here is the optismists and never say die category which makes things work – people like yourself. Big deal for a little hardship – they only strenghten our character. Michael Jordan fail miserably thousands of times before he perfected his “throw” and is now the all time superstar.

He can so can you! For all those people who think they are in the pits be blessed you are alive and can still start again.

What good is wealth and talent if you are dead – like Michael Jackson? (no disrespect to him – he is the godfather of rock and I have the highest respect for this icon).

Let other people’s “downs” be our inspiration to get our “UPS”.

Thanks the post. I totally agree with your philosphy on life with regards to action B. I have been tryng to make money online for a year now and the pieces are finally coming together for me. My family and friends dont understand IM and tell me to concentrate on my J.O.B.(Just Over Broke) which they say is a good one (I work as a legal executive, practicing Criminal Law in UK)the money is ok but no where near good enough to live the lifestyle I want, not to mention the stress the J.O.B brings, its just not worth it, surely there must be an easier way?

When I think of the lifestyle I could have as a successful IMer, i know there is another way! I make you right too about the fear and ignorance surrounding IM make most people feel its a little odd..

The way I see it, I have to chose B, Im confident with hardwork and persistence I can achieve the freedom and sucess in life as a IMer. People reading this might say, yeah well you say your a lawyer so you would say that, but the truth is, when i was young no one thought I of all people would become a lawyer, Im not super intelligent, wasnt raised with a gold sppon in my mouth and no one in my immediate family has any academic background therefore I had no positive role models to follow or any encouragement to carry on. In fact my family found it strange when I started studying to become a lawyer (studied for 5 years!!)but I persisted and achieved my goal. Im taking that same attitude to IM and know one day I will achieve my goals. You might be saying who cares, thats all about you Richard, but im only tell you this story because without belief in myself I would not have become a lawyer in the first place (even though admittedly its not quite cracked up to what i thought it would be like, its still a major achievement in my life.)

Sorry Johnny for taking up space on your blog but just wanted to tell a true inspirational story that doesnt yet have an happy ending…

I know I will achieve my ideal lifestyle, and you should too!!

I agree. Its funny how most people think that because I make money online. I’m buying into some type of scam or something.

I’ve been working hard.
I have never liked working for someone else.
I want to provide a lifestyle for myself
that I just can’t see with the traditional
“job”

It still does take some hard effort and dedication.

It will pay off 10,000 times the amount
that a regular job will.

You can actually help people in a more efficient
way.

Sitting at the computer every day, read every offer and there are many.
But not yet served a glass of milk, but lost the money I could afford to spend.

Great post Jonny, and even greater comments from a fabulous bunch of people. Life is essentially what you make out of it, irrespective as to what venture you undertake.

Internet marketing is no different and your success depends on your ability not to get side-tracked, focus on a niche area that you feel Truly Passionate about, and then take the plunge i.e. ACTION. Many people on this post are focusing on the amount of times they’ve been scammed. I have also been through it and lost thousands but yes, please wake up and put it behind you.

On my side, I’m concentrating on small niche areas that are all providing multiple streams of income. It is all about FOCUS and MOMENTUM. Small success breeds bigger successes.

Totally insane and amazing blog post, I was in a very similar position as you know dude, homeless disabled and down and out… but just having the desire to WANT to make it has pushed me through, and now I ‘m making NOT a millionaire lifestyle, but that will come.

The biggest hurdle is fear when starting out online, but theres really only 3 fundementals.

IM is one enjoyable numbers game, anyone who sticks with it WILL succeed.

Amen! I made the choice in my mind long before success was actualized.

The really beautiful thing about choosing to create my own success was that I too, was homeless, sleeping in an old car for nearly a year, but felt free and unafraid.

That was many years ago. I still help others make money, but on my terms and conditions, on the Internet from my home.

Remember that your willingness to be free must be paramount. Then, being homeless is but a small price to pay until you are ready.

Less than 2 percent of the population stay committed to their inner dreams and desires to be free.

I have to say that you made my day. You wrote an awesome post here and I’m clapping my hands right now. I just shared it with my Facebook friends. Thats how much I want them to realize that there is something lucrative out there to finally earn the freedom that they always wanted.

They think that they need to be computer geeks to succeed online which is not the case. They rather have their talent exploited from a company rather then working on their own. The thing is when someone see some advertisements like making $10,000 a week, Earn $500 working from home and etc. they just click away. Why? Because it seems too good to be true or their brain is too hard wired. The brain doesn’t understand that it can be finally free of doing anything that it has always wanted.

What everyone should understand is “If you learned how to walk and talk, you can surely learn a lot more then playing video games all day long”. What i mean by that is some video games demands a lot of determination to achieve a level and once you finished that level, you feel free. So, imagine putting the same determination in something that will be profitable for the rest of your life.

Like you said there is a lot of technology out there that can help everyone succeed online. For instance, I embrace Traffic Geyser for creating such a powerful tool to market videos online.

If every newbies understood the power of having a blog they would’ve made a lot more money by now. So, I would suggest anyone to Visit this to start their own blog as a marketing tool to start earning that six figures a year.

Now get out the rabbit hole and put in the work folks.

I have a burning desire to succeed, and am sacrificing my time to learn and implement as much as I can to reach my goal. I have broken down my goal to a daily plan, and am persistently trying to achieve that goal.

This is a great blog….and right on. I have been trying for over two years now to get a on-line business started and have lost alot of money to people who promise they will give you everything you need, and then call weeks later after you have purchased their program and need $3,000 to $5,000 for a mentor program to finish up and help you for the next 6 months. I already have your program and have started watching the video’s and reading everything, so hopefully this one will be the ticket. I need cash as quickly as possible.

After reading through some of the post above, I was wondering if you had ever thought about having some type of lottery that people could enter and the prize would be to have you personally or one of your staff help the winner to set up a carbon copy of what you do and give them the guidelines to keep it running?? Just a thought…..Keep piping out the good information.

Make money online is absolutely legal if we do the legal and do not give fake things to people.

If some how people finds it’s fake than that money making system will be illegal.

Is selling normal thing in shop is illegal. No Not at all. If you sell harmful things than that’s illegal.

If people are happy to buy than 100% legal.

Thankx my freind, love those stats, amazing when you really look at them, when I sold insurance a few years back I always told people 99% would die broke and penny less, 1% wealthy. When I owned my Mortgage Brokerage, I stressed with underwriters, borrowers, and interest rates. Got out of that rat race in 2006.
Now I write, online internet marketing, create what I want, try to provide the consumer with what they need. Wish more people knew what we know!! But you’re right ACTION is the word, you can get all wrapped up in all the other stuff but if you don’t implement that six letter word you will never get the six figure $$$$$$.

“Sell everything you have and give to the poor.” Oh how hard it is to even give something away. Those poor folks who will never understand great words of wisdom, like Zig. A little parapharsed, “By helping others get everything they need, you will get everything you need.” I am hoping for the ideal internet situation. If only the people, who don’t have anythng would start picking up the simple tools that are laid at their feet via the internet; they would realize they, too, can make money online.

We complain soooo much and yet DO so little, it is embarrasing, to say the least.

About time we start taking real action and KNOWING EVERYBODY CAN SUCCEED IF WE JUST DECIDE TO DO SO, AS WELL AS DECIDE TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES, (which will turn to be a lot less than one fears, right?).
