Bathrobes And Bunny Suits Do A Good Power Tie Make
I suppose if your life was the result of classical education and a very “Vanilla” background it could be argued, at least on the surface, soliciting business from a multi-millionaire CEO wearing nothing more than a bathrobe and flip-flops could be seen as potentially counter productive…
But then again most people who think they need to wear expensive suites (or pants in general), uttering phrases like “yes, sir” while acting as if there’s a 40ft pole up their asses are clearly NOT successful people
(Or at least not very happy successful people)
Let us then meet Elizabeth Slaughter: a phenomenal example of corporate America actually getting it right for a change…
This velor pant suit wearing, sleepy eyed monster of a working woman had the unfortunate luck of sitting next to me during the 4 hour return flight from Las Vegas… And oh my was she chatty! (All I wanted was to sleep and she had the AUDACITY to be interesting… the nerve of some people)
During said “chat” there were 2 things which stood out about Miss Slaughter…
#1: She was the fist person in as long as I can remember who when asked the question “Do you like what you do” responded with a “YES.”
Zero hesitation.
#2: Even though she has a marketing degree and actively uses it almost daily she had no idea about all this online stuff we do… But she had the mental framework to get it! (A thing once rare now becoming more common)
The more we talked the more she let go about a BAD ASS program she had been working on for some time. Great concept, great market but no idea how to get the word out or how to develop it into a working monitization model.
She had actually shelved the project and was quietly waiting for some insight as to her next move. (Law of attraction anyone?)
Shocking? Not at all!
It’s simply a reflection of how little the mainstream world understands this crazy Magik we do on the interslice.
BUT THEY ARE READY AND THEY ARE LOOKING!
And this Slaughter character is one of an ever growing number of offline people who are mad powerful movers who, once exposed to what we know and do, will get out there and CRUSH IT.
Remember those video posts I did about working with offline biz folks? Guess what. THEY FREAKING WORK! In fact, they work now more than ever.
Here’s Your Takeaway: (Ala GI Joe “Knowing Is Half The Battle”)
“Yo Joe” Part I: Opportunity is freaking EVERYWHERE but only those in the flow taking action will benefit.
Slaughter being the case in point. What she dropped on my lap, in the right hands, could easily be a 7 figure/year biz. Super ninja shiz she’s already made moves with.
Situations like this crop up DAILY when you’ve allowed yourself to become the sort of person who attracts cool stuff and cool people. But making that transformation is 100% your choice.
“Yo Joe” Part II: If you are taking said action your online wizardry will blow peoples minds and many doors will open.
Seriously. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it 1000x… if you’ve read 1 online marketing book (or even thought of buying my stuff
then you know more than 99% of all biz owners out there. Might want to think about using that to your advantage. Maybe.
Bottom Line: Income is attracted to movement. Make moves. Make money. Done. Then you get to take a month off while doing deals in bathrobes, spending almost 4 weeks on cruise ships and throwing down in Vegas. (Not that I know anything about that sort of stuff)
See you next time,
Jonny

Good comments.
It’s also important to do the right things rightly. Not just “move,” but move in the right direction.
I’m sure you’ve heard about the guy moving in a dead end training and not wanting to get off?

Aw Mark, there you go getting it right again!
Jerk!

Hehehe…I smell local Internet Marketing Training Part 2. When will it be Jonny Boy?
Posted on January 27, 2010 at 5:07 pm
I’ll share a little case in point… just to prove you even more right Jonny.
Months ago, I shared a strategy (VERY simple email marketing and blog strategy) with a financial investment firm in Spain. (By the way, I’m in Pittsburgh USA).
10 minutes of a Skype call… a hand off to my web guy and Cha Ching… $10K in the bank.
Just today, about two hours ago… that same firm called me up and asked me to design the same campaign strategy for their 10 lawyers, 40 sales guys and their VP of Marketing (the last one makes me laugh:).
Folks… I’m just writing the strategy out in ABC simple step by step… handing it off to the web guys and taking a paycheck.
Ah… when you explain things in simple terms and make yourself available to the right people, (i.e. you actually have to step outside your circle and house time and again) you’ll find that there are a lot of people who want your services… and need your expertise.
Awesome Post Jonny.
P.S. Ha… a P.S. in a blog comment, I was wearing my GI Joe Shirt while reading this (Target $14.95)

Jonny…
The important thing to be revealed here is that if you have the right mindset, opportunities won’t take long to pop out of thin air (like you had around the plane, isn’t it, literally?)
I am sometimes puzzled not only to see offline business people having no clue of what we do online, BUT there are many people online, pretending they DO know what they do while they don’t – hope that makes sense?
He, he,
English is a Foreign Language to me still…
Nice post and nice picture, Mrs. Slaughter!

You are right! It is amazing to discover when you talk to an offline business person, often times they don’t have a clue about the internet.
Yet, I haven’t even attempted to do something with that opportunity. I’m thinking…
There’s got to be an approach for me to use Thanks for pounding this concept into my head once again.

Opportunities are definitely everywhere. I have a few potential clients because I just started a conversation with someone. It’s funny how things work itself out. I wouldn’t even thought of proposing any of my skills to brick and mortar business if I didn’t learn what I have learned through Internet Marketing.

Hi, Jonny,
You’re awesome! How lucky for Mrs. Slaughter to be seated next to YOU!! Her life will never be the same.
By the way, flip flops and bathrobe look good on you even in a social mixer – you might be setting the new fashion statement for successful IM’ers!!
Thanks for everything, Jonny,
Christine

Hey “J. Boy”,,,,,,,,
You’re right action is what it takes….
The problem is that, even when people are given a proven plan. They just freexe (freeze) and don’t move forward. Why? Because they are outside of their comfort zone fighting cage. So people will just procrastinate, over and over, because they need to change their 1 yr. old babies diaper every 15 minutes. (Did you get it?)… It’s no surprise that even if you sold your product to 1,000 people and everyone bought it,,,,,ONLY less than 3% will actually apply the system….Of those 3%, maybe 2% will actually continue their business. So the very few that are left will either give up or weather the failures. Those that are left continue because of “Inspiration or Deperation”….But the truth is, like you, we all just need to take the initiative to move forward…..J. Boy, you have probably failed more times than, I have tried! I admire that,,,,I quess for me I just need to keep plugging ahead.
I’ve never been here but, thanks for letting say a few words.

attitude is everything thats why i want to make sure i get a good one. They say that all men worry about the same thing” money” and maybe the reason i resist it is because of the responsibility i see that it comes with. I will remain carfree colorfull and creative. thanks for letting me share Johnnyray in Bakersfield Ca I still believe the best things in life are free Can we agree to disagree and be happy with that I hope so.

Hey Jonny,
I read this post earlier in the day and was going to leave a comment on it but I got rushed and didn’t like what I had written so deleted it and left with out leaving my comment.
I came back pretty much the next day, well its the end of my day LOL. There were quite a bit of comments added.
The post was inspiring and when I left today I went for a long walk because I was doing errands and while on the walk I did quite a bit of thinking and some of it related to the inspiration I got from reading your post.
Thanks for giving me inspiration and getting me into the mode to take some action! I am currently in the learning process and working part time. Just trying to build up all my IM skills.
I really enjoyed the post and will definitely keep your blog on my favorite bookmarks list and be following you!

Nice.
Sometimes things happen for a reason and sometimes it works out a la Secret/Law of Atraction. You’re right though, once the mainstream works out the way to make it work (Mr TR) for instance, then massive result…
Best wishes

yo Jonny
great post as usual.
It’s amazing how many people are looking to take their offline biz online and your post goes to highlight this.
I told my son that if he listened and observed others he would soon witness this for himself.
It’s kinda like when you buy a car. All of a sudden you spot similar cars all over the place; because you have become more aware of the make, model and color. Well this is the same with our biz, what you focus on appears more often.
My son took note and in one weekend brought two new offline clients to our online biz… a local bar and a string quartet of all things…
cool stuff indeed
Anyway, got to go and pack for London
Be good…
Phil
p.s. sorry i didnt make the cruise this year… I’ll hop the pond and see you sometime soon…
p.p.s. meeting up with Simon Leung in London, should be a blast as usual

Jonny!
Now that you brought up this topic, when are you going to have a course that shows us how to go after the “offline” market? Or, if you don’t want to do one, can you direct us to one that you would recommend, that doesn’t cost as much as my next child?
Posted on January 28, 2010 at 10:56 am
Dude – You “Slaughtered” this post.
Get it? Get it?
Seriously though, it’s so true about being in the action mode attracts what you are taking action for.
Great story telling too, btw.
Peace!

Hey Jonny,
Informative and entertaining blog post as always.
I’m still working my j.o.b. but have been blogging for about 6 months and have made only a few hundred dollars.
None of my friends or my boss really seemed too interested until I made a little bit of money.
Once I did, my boss asked if I could set up a website for him (after I showed him mine…nothing too fancy by the way)
And the business next door to him also asked me about setting up a website for him and said that he had some one quote him $2,000 to get one set up.
So…there is definitely a huge opportunity out there for some one ‘in the flow’!
